Mission

Contributing to prepare, implement, operate and evaluate plans that utilize various, obtainable resources and lead to sustainable development to uplift the living conditions of the people of the Western Province.

Functions performed and services provided by the Western Provincial Planning Division:

  • To identify the existing development needs of the province and collect information related to up-to-date structured information that forms the basis for planning, update and analyze that information and use that information to select the best option among the priorities.
  • To identify work subjects in the preparation of annual programs that are directly related to and contribute to the achievement of the expectations, objectives and results of the medium-term plan, and to provide and prioritize the work that is beneficial and effective for the majority of the people.
  • When carrying out planning activities, directing ministries and departments in relation to implementation of development projects in accordance with the climate change adaptation plan and to achieve sustainable development goals and evaluating the said ministries and departments.
  • Prepare a mid-year provincial development plan with a view to achieve economic and social goals based on specific objectives and preparation of sectoral plans, annual action programs based on that.
  • Formal handling of future development activities in each component/area based on detailed sectoral plans that have already been prepared for all components within the planning process.
  • To support all ministries, departments and institutions to provide solutions based on identified problems and priorities related to the development of the province in general and to support the quality development of people’s living conditions.
  • Monitoring and coordination of ongoing projects/ programs as well as evaluating the benefits of projects.
  • Taking operational responsibility for the implementation of related programs, projects and tasks to ensure adherence to criteria, responsibilities and effectiveness of investments.
  • Estimating the value of new projects / programs.
  • Obtain optimal beneficiary contributions and maintain regular post-tests and evaluations in the implementation of development projects.
  • To make united, cooperative and collective efforts for the achievement of all objectives.
